The church is supporting the elderly, vulnerable and anyone who is isolating or shielding during this unsettling time. They are set up to help in numerous ways and would be more than happy to support across Cambridgeshire. Details are:
Option 1 – Emergency food support, for those who are financially unable to purchase food, an emergency food parcel, all food parcels are delivered to their homes and left on the door step.
Option 2 – For those able to purchase food but unable to get out the house, people will be paired with a befriender who will do the shopping on their behalf and drop it off at their home. This is also relevant for fuel tops, prescription pick ups and pension pick ups.
Financial Support (limited):
They can put in Acts 345 applications for those that might need support with bills and financial help. (no guarantees with the money coming in, one off grants of up to £100). If fuel poverty related the first point of call is the electric/gas provider who are obligated to help during this season. They can also refer to the council’s fuel poverty officer (city).
The thing they are doing daily is food but they can help with other things as needed! And they will put the elderly on weekly emergency packages if required or pair up with a befriender who can do the shopping for them.
